Can the battry fan be wired to a manual switch?/ Fan controller testing?

    My battery in a 2005 Prius gets hot quick to 120+ and I'm in a hot climate. I'm thinking of wiring it direct with an on/off or variable switch that I control. Has anyone ever done this and would there be any issues giving it the full 12-14V from the auxiliary battery?

    Maybe better would be to test the fan controller. Can anyone advise me?

    The fan works and I have cleaned it.

    You can turn it on with several apps, no need to add a switch. Search the forum and you will find the answer.

    I think direct wiring 12v to the fan would be a mistake. Pretty sure it would let out all the magic smoke if hit with 12v from a 'stopped' condition.

    Pretty sure that's how you bench test it. That, and grounding the SI input. Smoke stays in, I think.
