Can we replace part of batteries when battery is dead?

    I googled what to do when battery is dead and most suggest to replace the battery completely with roughly $3000. I wonder if it is possible to replace only part of batteries that fail? Also, what would be a good way to estimate remaining battery life for a used Prius?
