And some skid the tires. You have to read the entire post if you want to keep up with the conversation. ;)

Well I didn't have an issue when my Prius needed to be towed. The car was off and wasn't in neutral and they got it up to the bed just fine. I wish to I took photos so that you guys can have a reference.

Another benefit of the Gen 2. You can run the full EV Drive Mode speed range on a cold start. i.e. I can start up the car, go into EV Drive Mode and travel at 50km/h if I wanted to. In the Gen 3, I'm limited to 16km/h until it's fully warmed up.

The front wheels slide. This is of no consequence.

Not good for the parking pawl in the gearbox I suspect.

It doesn't do it any harm. The parking pawl in the Prius is a beast. It's a big helix ring that screws into place. If you break that, you probably have damaged something else in the drive train.

My Gen 11 came with an EV button because Toyota loves us Aussies!!

If the battery was dead and you hook up a jump battery you could select neutral by putting it in accessories mode then select neutral. I guess then you can disconnect the jump battery and it would stay in neutral but I'm not sure. Can someone flatten their battery and try it for me? :D

    Hey all,
Reviving an old thread because I have a new question to add.
Recently my wife's car had an HV battery failure, I pulled it into my workshop, as well as my parts donor car (for convenience & to be out of the 100+ * sun) . I then dismantled the hybrid packs & am rebuilding a good one from pieces of both. So I now find myself in a conundrum, how to get the parts car back to its outdoor living space without an HV battery installed? If I tape the end of the HV wires will it power up in a mode that will allow me to put it into N from only the 12v battery installed? Is there a "cheat"? I could use my tractor to lift the front by the frame horns & "carry" it, but I'd prefer a less extreme method....

FYI on the previous thread, getting a car onto a tow bed if it's dead, install the tow hook in the front bumper, use a rolling floor jack under the right front lower arm to lift that tire, the differential will spin that tire backward when you pull the car, use the Jack handle to steer the jack so it won't flip. Had to do that when I got my car & it locked itself down halfway on the trailer.

Maybe put the two front wheels on wheel dollies?

    upload_2017-8-24_16-55-53.png

Pretty close to it I think. My first posted question was regarding whether or not it was ok to DIY basic maintenance, it wouldn't void the warranty, IIRC. Guess I ran with that one, lol.

I have dollies, but that's only as good as the edge of the shop, then it's dirt & gravel....

Ok, that's what I was wondering about too, what surface you're going over. That thing's a big paper weight when it's broken.

True! Lol if I remove the hood I think I can lift the front & tow it with the tractor, most of the front stuff is either off or messed up from a previous front ended it had that wasn't safely fixed (why I decommissioned it)
