Can your Prius talk with a different voice or language?

Hello and welcome to PriusChat.

I had the same question when I was considering the option of a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Prius.

I never found any source that said it can be done, but quite a few that said it was not possible.

I stay away from JDM, mostly because I don't want to deal with that issue, as well as getting support in NZ for it.

I have always bought NZ new pre-loved Prii. Although with sales of new Prii the way it is that is getting difficult.

I hope someone else chips in with information for you.

 

It seems this problem has been overcome in Russia. If I'm not mistaken, I've seen Russian owned 2nd Gen Prii with their MFDs converted to Russian language.

Actually, I'm gonna check that online right now......I hope that's not just my imagination. The Russians can be very resourceful
