    I was under the impression that total system hp is the engine's hp plus the battery's hp. The Gen 3's MG2 generates 60 kW (80hp). The Gen 2 generated 50 kW (67hp). Battery output for the Gen 3 is 27 kW (36hp). The Gen 2's battery output 25 kW (34hp).

    The MG is just a medium to output power from either the engine or battery to the wheels. Anything higher than the max output of MG2 would require MG1 to counter spin to charge the battery or require the engine to power the wheels directly. All of this is controlled by the PSD.
