Some relatives had some bad experiences with Bridgestones so I'm a bit hesitant. I've always had Michelins on my cars...I put them on, keep their pressures up and have no problems with them. And the all-seasons are great in snowy conditions.

The block heater isn't manditory were I am, but I'd like to have it for those cold mornings.

I'm in Ontario so we get a $2k tax credit which should be awesome!

The test drive should be awesome . I test drove an '09 a month ago and was impressed with its lack of cabin noise and handling but I was holding out for the 2010...

I'll have the pictures thread in the Canadian forum. It'll be nice if we can use that forum more often for events and info for Canadian owners. That way for future reference, we can direct newbies to that forum if they're looking for Canadan content.

Ohh... well I took a Technology Package out today and it seemed ok. The tyres weren't noisy. I didn't test for grip however. Hopefully they're better than the Integritys.

Seems like you've got it figured out.

    Yeah.. ouch!

Would it not make sense to plug the vehicle in whenever it got below freezing? That way, you'd burn less gas at the beginning of the trip while your engine warmed up, right?

If so, the $370 I (mandatorily) spent on the block heater should pay for itself eventually.

The vehicle is quieter than I expected, although one of my passengers noted that it is louder in the back than the front.

You know what? that's a reoccurring observation. You're not the only one who said "my passengers said it was noisier in the back"

I don't know about you folks, but I even use my BH in the summer months.
Frankly, if plugging it in for a hour or so in the warmer summer days allows me tanks in the 3.1 to 3.3 L/100km in a Prius II, then it makes even more sense to do it in the Winter months as soon as the temps get below 10C. In my experience, a block heater is mandatory if the fuel consumption is to remain below 4.5 l/100km.

Yes, if you use it strategically it will more than pay for itself - all year round.

    Cheers;

Wow, in Vancouver? Which dealership did you go to Tideland? I'm dying to see an option D in person!

and of course, if you ever need a MPG boost, just go for a scenic drive around Richmond - the most hybrid-friendly terrain IMHO - P&G till your SOC is way down. Not much to do there, but still...

I did Gaglardi (bottom of the hill though) => Lougheed => all the way to PoCo for about a year and a half - consistently above 50mpg. Going back I found HWY1 better than Lougheed (less steep than Lhd.). Hate those traffic lights around IKEA - you come to a full stop, and then you climb towards North Road (stopping twice along the way).

No not in Vancouver. I'm not there at the moment.

LOL. I guess. but Vancouver's more fun because of the hills.

Yeah notice how my routes are one way lol. I take another route back or I just suck it up and know that it'll be averaged out both ways.

Say... from Rmd to Bby, I'd probably go up the hill first then use 49 or 41 to take advantage of rolling hills to slowly climb up to Bby. But going back to Rmd, I'll probably go down Boundary and P&G along SW.

I have no preferred routes in Coq. I just stick with Hwy 1 or along Brunette. Kingsway westbound from boundary to downtown is pretty good but coming back, you might wanna find another route. Broadway and Hastings are ok both ways.

You guys have this Vancouver hybrid-ing down to a science. I need to move farther away from work so I can take advantage of all these routes! :p

So I took a Test drive in a tester 2010 premium...Test Drive Impressions: Awesome car! the ride, the handling, the fit and finish all of it was there. I love EV and ECO modes!

After the TD, I went back to the dealership and "wheeled and dealed"...I was able to pull the base model price down to $27k with a bumper protector (which is all I wanted)...they weren't budging anymore and refused to do anything about the block heater! so I'm gonna buy it separate (the heater alone is $90, the other $360 is "dealer installation") and install it myself. I take delivery next week (they have to confirm on the color availability, winter grey) car sales people are on par with Ferengi :)

Excellent, glad you think it's as awesome as I do! Can't wait to see your baby and good job on getting some money off MSRP. All I managed to do was talk them up on my trade-in a bit, plus the free all-weather mats. When you get that block heater in, try to post a how-to!

nice! Ontario always seems to be able to deal (even if it's $500) on hot models. Guess it's because you have the most number of dealers within a small radius?? (southern ontario of course)

lol. You're probably polluting less by living closer to work though

Thanks Moner. I'll probably wouldn't get the block heater until sept...my budget will be tight for the next few weeks!

Tideland, I guess it helps to have a large number of dealers in the area to fall back on but I'm still a bit dissappointed they didn't budge on the block heater.. :( oh well...

I hear ya, I really, really want to get my windows tinted but I completely depleted my bank account buying this thing. I wasn't expecting to pay the extra $2100 for the Premium model over the base model. So worth it though, who cares if I have to eat Kraft Dinner. :D

Against all odds, my car arrived at my dealer this afternoon, I'm so excited.:whoo:

I left the job early to take a look at her. She's all dusty and covered with plastic sheets but she's awesome !

I was curious to see contrast between the solar panel and the rest of the black roof but with all the dust that covered it, I wasn't able to see it clearly.

Tomorrow is a holiday in Quebec so I won't be able to get it before Friday 1 PM. I can't wait ! Fortunately, we will be able to take it for our runaway week end !

    I love that blue ribbon!

but I'm a grey person (I have sliver car right now and felt a need for a slight change, hence the winter grey)

yup...budget is going to be tight for the summer, but its worth it :D
