Thanks. I'll give it a try. Anyone know of a good deal on replacement TPMS sensor that the techstream can program?

Once you have the correct part number for your vehicle, you can price it at the dealer's and check eBay or Amazon. You want to get a new sensor (you already have a used one!) and take a clear picture of the ID number printed on it before it is installed so you can register it with your system. You also will need to use screen capture to get the ID numbers for the other working sensors from Techstream since you need to enter all four as part of the reprogramming.

I set my TPMS sensors up in clockwise order starting at front left. I run 42 psi front, 40 back, so that identified the front versus back. The car was parked east-west, so the sun drove the temperatures higher on the sun side. Dropping the pressure in each tire and checking the Techstream data confirmed which id was where - they were all mixed up. So I reregistered the serial numbers in front left, front right, right rear, left rear, spare :)p) order. When I rotate the tires front/back, they'll still be in order starting with front left but counterclockwise.

    ILuvMyPrius has it.

DENSO 550-0103 on Amazon seems to fit 2006 Prius well
The Amazon fit guide says OK for Gen3 but check comments to make sure

Coming back to this thread, I wanted to let everyone know the method I used to disable the Gen 2 TPMS sensors actually does work. The 2006 Prius I did it on half a year ago still has no warning light on. I have since done another 2006 with the same method and all warning lights are off. So you can use this method if you just want to disable the TPMS and not bother with the battery anymore.

To disable it, all you do is change the TPMS ID/identification codes (or whatever they are called). There are 4 of them programmed into your car. Change them to the following

    1. 0000001
    2. 0000002
    3. 0000003
    4. 0000004

    That's it. Simple.

That's amazing secret code and you just happened to guess it? I can say using 0000000 does not do the trick, although I did not try setting all tires at 0000000

I am still using the fake-out method for one tire, so at least I have 3 tires reading. But maybe I should check to see what is going on...seems like 11+ years is too long TPMS life, one should be bad by now. Maybe Toyota sunset the system at 11 years old and the light stays off?

I think I was reading one of your threads about fooling the computer with 0000001, so I just added 2, 3, 4 to the other ones. It works.

I forgot to come back and update that post, but I finally did get around to trying out another J2534 dongle for a bit more money, and that one has not seemed to have any of the flakiness I was seeing with the Mini-VCI. (Haven't tried a brake bleed with it yet, though.)
