Car is a 2005. So this morning i hear a car alarm to go off. I soon realize is mine so i grab my keys go outside and try to turn the alarm off. The fob key didn't not work when i tried to turn it off. The car has the oem alarm.I had to turn the car on in order to stop the beeping. Once i got to work i turned the car off and the alarm kept beeping. So i left the car on for an hour and then i went out turned the car off and the beeping stopped. After about 6 hours the beeping continued and by then it was time to go home so i just left the car on for another 30min until i left work. got home and parked the car and about 30 minutes later the beeping continued once again. I took the car to get the 12v battery tested but they said it was good. If anyone had this issue before and can help out that would be great

There might be a glass breakage sensor on your car that is defective that might be causing the problem. There was an accessory that was available when I bought my 2004 Prius (I didn't get it, so I am only guessing here).

Could be a stuck or extremely sensitive panic button on your fob.

I click on the lock button and it locks. To unlock i just grab the door handle and it unlocks all doors

Sounds like the panic button on the Fob. I didn't think Prius had a OEM alarm.

i haven't heard of one in 12 years, unless it's dealer add on or aftermarket.

The easiest way is to roll down the window, then get out, close the door and lock the car. When you see the immobiliser light blinking, reach in and open the door. That will set off the alarm.
It is factory fitted. I think in some markets it was an option for some of the lower spec models.

I have that same problem with my 2005 Prius. It also have aftermarket alarm installed (Rockledge). I figured that my key fob might be dead so I switched to different key fob. No problem since! Have you tried using different key fob?
