So I just drove the car on the street & within one mile, the car went into limp mode with the 'Check hybrid system' message & threw code P0a94. I think it's posessed!

It looks like it's moving, but it could just be the vibration from the car. I can definitely see when the coolant is moving in the reservoir of my 2005 2nd gen.

I do see movement of the coolant with the engine shut down & the car in ready mode.

I take a screenshot of every code(s) that pops up. I have to delete the codes in order to get rid of the 'Check hybrid system' message.

Torque app may not be showing you everything. You might want to find a more Prius-friendly diagnostic tool. Techstream is the gold standard.

Have the IPM software updates been done?

Sounds like the inverter May have given up the ghost.

I looked into Techstream & there's all kinds of options out there. Are they all the same or some counterfeit? Does it make a difference?

I don't think any software updates were done. At least not since my friend owned it. What ghost? Sorry I don't know what you mean.

The P0A94 is the code for the inverter;).

And when this displays, it can mean ther inverter is bad:(.

The Gen3 has 2 software updates that were to help prevent this, and there is also an extended warranty on the inverter due to the failure condition:).

Worth looking into a bit further(y).

P0A94 refers to the DC/DC converter. That is located inside the inverter/converter assembly, and if it's gone south you'll probably end up replacing the whole assembly, true enough. But the converter is not the same as the IPMs (which are also in that same assembly), and if it was going to break, the IPM firmware updates wouldn't have stopped it.

I located a used inverter. The model number is G9200-47161 but the one on the car is G9200-47210. Will it work? Thanks for all the input guys!

I called the dealership with the vin number about the inverter & they informed me that the software updates were performed this February of 2019 but there was no active recall on the inverter itself.

Apparently this is a much bigger problem than what a software update will fix. In fact, it seems like the software bandaid speeds up the burn!

This is the inverter converter that I purchased on ebay. It came out of a Prius V. The seller assured me that it will work on the Prius. Will it? The model of inverter converter that's originally in the car is G9200-47210 (pictured here) with the big 'K'. The inverter converter from the Prius V that I purchased (also pictured here) bears the model number G9200-47161 with the big 'B'. Thank you for all your help and input! 20190526_125030.jpeg CYMERA_20190526_145446.jpeg CYMERA_20190526_145554.jpeg CYMERA_20190526_145615.jpeg CYMERA_20190526_145642.jpeg CYMERA_20190526_145707.jpeg
