O7 prius. I have original key fob. Seems to have unprogrammed. Does not start when inserted into the slot. Is does beep when inserted but won't turn over at all.

Had a locksmith come out, and he was unable to reprogram the original key. It's like the slot doesn't recognize it being inserted in the slot

Are you certain the RFID chip is actually in it?

Yeah, just did some research on the RFID chip and unfortunately there isn't one in my key fob l. There is a space for it but it is not present and is missing. Received the key fob from the original owner it must have got lost under their ownership. Is the RFID chip replaceable?

Contact the previous owners. Hopefully they have the old case to transfer the RFID chip. If not, you will have to buy a NEW (100% virgin) fob from the dealer; new fobs come w/ a RFID chip. Then pay for a RESET (clears all past fobs from car) and RESEED (programs new fobs to work with the car) at the dealer.

Price shop the RESET and RESEED procedure. Don't forget service discount coupons on dealer websites. Also AAA, AmEx, and Costco have dealer discount coupons too.

Yep, you need a new key. I’m guessing it’s an SKS key as you were driving it without the RFID chip inside. Is this the Exon Valdez oil burner or did you get another Prius?
