Catalytic converter code

    So, my 2008 Prius is throwing a catalytic converter code. With most convential gas cars I know a bad cat can affect gas mileage and performance but how crucial is a good cat on a Prius? Doesn’t sputter, act funny or anything odd but curious if a bad cat in a Prius effects anything? Thanks in advance for your reply!

    190k. Yes the check eng light comes on but I keep resetting it with the OBD2 scanner but just want to fix the issue now. I’m in CA read I need a CA cat. But also reading a O2 sensor may fix the issue also.

    If your car burns oil, then your cat would be affected.

    You might lose a few mpg but it won't affect much else. A California cat will cost you over $1500

    Burns a little oil, but not too much. Read that the oil burning does cause them to fail. Thanks for the info!

    You will be fine until you need to smog the car or sell it. You will need to pass smog.

    What code is the scanner picking up?
