    I have no problem to mod the Front Power Port (Cigarette power outlet) under glove box (thank you for the direction on other threads).

    I also need to mod Always hot for the Power port which is located inside the center console, Please point me the direction how to open the center console and run the 12V power cable etc..

    Thank you. :p :D

    pop off the cupholders in the front and youll see a screw on each side at the bottom, remove the felt thing inside and youll see two bolts, undo all of those and you have removed the center console

    Thank you for the tip, yes, I took it apart and put it back. I will do the mod some other time.

    Be aware that the 12v battery is not very big, so it won't take much of a drain to run it down if the hybrid system is off.

    Ok, I have done to make the Center Console Cigarette Lighter (Power Outlet) always hot on my Prius 2007. Works good.

    Advantage:
    -I don't need to run an additional wire to cigarette lighter outlet (no need to access Center Console Power Outlet).
    -Put the Fuse cover back as normal.
    -No Tap or cut to any original wire.
    -De-Install in few minutes, back to the original MFG.

    Disadvantage:
    -If the fuse is burn out you need to replace Good Fuse by solder (not plug and play), which is rare if you don't overload.

    Here are the pictures:

    Pic #2 Make a Dummy Fuse (no conductivity between the two posts). Best if you can find a burn fuse, so you don't need to cut in the middle of the fuse.

    Excellent. I hadn't seen that product before. Sometimes you don't want the wire exiting that direction (tight fit under the cover, etc.). I've had great luck with these as well:

    One advantages is separate fuses for each circuit, and the wire exists to the side.

    That certainly seems simple enough. I am considered a computer geek, but more certainly an electronics moron. Would this process work on the front power outlet? I have a solar panel that trickle charges the 12v battery through the power outlet, but won't work since the outlet is not "hot" when the car is off. Would work great through the front power outlet.

    If I were you I'd add a completely new 12V plug and hook it up directly to the battery (with a proper fuse, of course).

    You can do the Front Power Outlet as below pictures:

    Access to the Front Power Outlet:

    [attachmentid=12091]

    1-Use Existing Ground by flip connector.

    2- +12V green wire with Red connector the other end goes to Fuse #22
    [attachmentid=12092]

    Solder the other end of wire to a Good 15Amp Fuse then plug to Fuse #22 (You can check without turn power on to see if location 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28 is hot; I have not checked yet).

    Another option: You can buy the kit from Coastal Tech below.

    Power-Outlet-Always-On-Kits

    Currently, Coastal Tech does not have Center Console Outlet kit yet, I might ask Coastal Tech to build the simple kit for Center Console Outlet.

    What happens when the 12V battery is depleted? How long would it take for a full charge to do so, considering that you might be charging an iPod or GPS unit? What is the maximum amount of time you would let something like that charge?

    Also, do you know what a Coastal Tech mod to do this for the front outlet does (if anything) to the car's warranty?

    I tried the original Darelldd mod yesterday by tapping into the light green wire coming out of the fuse box. I didn't, however, install a flip swith for the existing front outlet as he did. I simply connected the ground from my new 12V outlet to the existing outlet's ground wire (which I assume to be the white w/ black stripe).

    Didn't work, with car either On or Off. Fuses look fine. Existing front outlet still works. Not sure where/how to troubleshoot next. Help!!
