Read this today. Seems like the CH-R is the first Toyota (except the rav4 EV) to go all electric. Toyota, Panasonic partner for batteries
Wonder if it’s a China exclusive or what... and if it is, what other EV models that will come to US and Europe first.

That's for China only (that's my understanding).

Worldwide... well the CH-R is on the Prius platform so my guess is an electric Prius. (or that weird SUV we saw two years ago from that spyshot that people thought was the next gen Prius v)

They sell shitloads of them here in Europe lol, theyre really popular.

Yea... I dont know about that prius crossover thingy.. Its for sure real, cause these shots r not photshopped. It obviously has the pre face lift prius 4th gen front. And it seems like it has the 2nd gen Auris taillight design..
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Seems to be the auris and avensis taillight design. Just with a fatter "tube" design. It looks ALOT like a KIA from the rear lol.

    Auris
    [IMG]
    Avensis 2017
    [IMG]

From what i can see this is how they look. I have no idea why, but they scream KIA... I cant find a KIa with this exact design, i just swear i have seen one with it.

I highly doubt its the face lift 2019 4th gen prius taillights... The design fits, but the housing doesnt fit what so ever. [IMG]

So yea, i don know, that whole car is a mystery... Toyota havent commented on this at all. It may be a 2020 model or some, cause SUV`s and crossovers r getting more popular than sedans and wagons. So my guess is that toyota will release this sometime within the next 3 years.

But yea, the CH-R EV, im sure toyota will sell it elsewhere aswell, cause theyre getting late to the EV-party... and i really dont think the prius will be the first EV for EU and US. I kind of doubt it just cause it doesnt sell as well anymore. If i were to guess, the corolla would get the EV make-over first, since its one of the worlds best selling cars. And it wouldnt surprise me if the RAV4 EV came right after that.

I would hope that Toyota would bring the ch-r HYBRID here first. It seems to be for sale everywhere else in the world and I have read that 70% of sales in Europe are the hybrid. My son has the ICE-only version and it is a great vehicle but at 32 mpg, I just can't justify leaving my Prius. If my conversion calculation is right, the hybrid model gets about 41 mpg....a game changer for me.

That is actually identical it seems like lol, so that may very well be it, the body shape is actually identical to it... Theyve just taken off the front bumper and replaced it with the prius bumper...

Since it looks exactly like the lexus NX rear end, im starting to wonder if this prius V will come out when the NX gets a new body shape. It makes sense... Thats how VW group does it with Audi, audi got a body first, then skoda gets that body in the next generation, like the skoda fabia is the old polo aswell.

I say the Prius v/Plus/Alpha is dead.

It was cancelled in the US because of low sales. Hybrids are generally a tough sell here, and they have a new Rav4 hybrid. I don't see Toyota spending the money to certify a hybrid only model for the market when it likely won't sell much better than before.

The Corolla is being reintroduced to Europe in sedan, hatch, and wagon forms with a hybrid option for the sedan and wagon. It is replacing the Auris and Avensis. Corolla production will likely take place in those models current factories(though Brexit could affect that) so as to avoid the EU import tariffs that impact the Prius and Prius v. They also have a hybrid CH-R.

Don't know how popular the car is in Japan, but Toyota sells actual hybrid minivans there.

The model in the spy photos thought to be the next Prius v could easily be the NX, UX/CH-R, Corolla wagon, or maybe even the Rav4.

It is for sure not the Corolla wagon... Nor the CHR... Corolla is not lifted that high, CH-R isnt that big either, and its not the RAV4, i checked out the new RAV4 in person yesterday, and this looks nothing like it. It is the Lexus NX with the prius 2016 front bumper and headlights. As u see in this pic where ive tried making it clearer.
Here u see the exact same wheels aswell, its the F-sport trim wheels, on a Lexus NX, hubcap center logo`s is taken off on the spy shot car. It is for sure a Lexus NX with the toyota prius 2016 front bumper and headlights. Like... WHy would the new gen Lexus NX use the same body style with the prius bumper?

It makes sense it was canceled in the US, Prius V as it is now, will get canceled here aswell, prius V just doesnt sell well here, people here would rather buy the regualr prius or the auris, even taxi drivers. It also makes perfect sense for the Prius V to change shape to a crossover, since SUV`s and crossovers is taking over the market. It could take over the regular prius`s market aswell, which could be why they made it. To test and see if the crossover prius will sell better than the regualr prius. It also makes perfect sense for the Prius V corssover to only come to Europe, since it has the prius 4th gen 2016 front bumper and headlights, its obviously a prius, which means hybrid. My guess is, this will be RAV4`s lil brother here in Europe. So smallest will be CH-R, then the Prius V, then the RAV4, then the Land cruiser.
U in USA got the RAV4, highlander, then the land cruiser, since the RAV4 is considered small there, i cant see why this would come to USA..

And i dont think brexit meant that much, i asked my dealership yesterday where the new corolla`s r made, and they said theyre still made in UK.

And i think the CH-R is stupidly popular in Japan lol, its insanly popular here in Europe aswell... There is one on every street corner.. lol

The spy shots are of a car in motion. That makes judging ground clearance difficult as braking, accelerating, and turning will cause the car body to shift on the suspension. The drivers are wearing helmets; going fast is probably a safe assumption. Same with the wheels. Blurring can be seen there in the spy shots, and the Corolla wagon has similar ones.

Then are assuming that the camo car is the final production model. It could be a prototype without the lights and other cues set in stone yet. Or they could have done more than just wrap the car in vinyl. Look at the hybrid Toyota badge on the nose. Why even leave that uncovered on a car that you don't want the public to recognize? They bothered to remove the center wheel caps. It's more work to put the wrap around it that over it.

Just FYI, there is a potential Corolla Cross (think Outback or Cross Country) coming down the line. That could be the Corolla Cross wearing an NX body.

Alternatively, it’s the next gen NX but given that the RAV4 has a longer wheelbase, I suspect it’s Corolla or Prius based.

There is no toyota hybrid badge on it, i just added it in photoshop, this is the original pic. Its completely badgeless, just like every prototype toyota.
It does look pretty small compared to the golf behind it in one of the other pics, but the lexus NX is not that big, so it makes sense.

And this is the standard corolla wagon wheels, they dont look the same...

Here is a shot of the Lexus NX wheels, on the NX going in speed, in a corner, wheels is identical.

But why would they make a prototype of a corolla cross country with the prius front? Prius is iconic and easly recognizeable, if it had the corolla front then sure, it couldve been. But why go thru the trouble to mold a new prius front onto the NX if it isnt a prius? They couldve just as well left the lexus front on it then... And its for sure not a RAV4... Lines around the car doesnt add up at all...

Cause it’s a prototype and they can mould whatever they want in the front to throw people off. If they’re testing dynamics, it doesn’t matter what front end they have. The most important thing is the chassis.

Well, it could be lol, it does help with the disguise... But i really dont know, a prius V crossover would make alot of sense, thats all i know lol. What ive started to wonder now is if the prius 4th gen front bumper bolts right on to the Lexus NX lol. Or if they actually had to mold a new one.

Agree those Corolla wheels are different, but the NX and unknown wheels aren't the same. The flare of the spokes at the rim of the NX is wider and more sudden. Then the smaller open spaces are wedges coming to a point. On the unknown those spaces are a rectangle that is pinched off at the center of the wheel.

The five double spoke arrangement the two use is a common one. Add some motion blur, and different wheels can start looking the same. Then they are wheels; not difficult to switch them. For drive testing they just need to be the same size and weight.
The fake bits don't need to be perfect. The wrap will hide imperfections.
