Just changed the 12V battery today. Less than an hour ago. Everything turns on and everything is normal. Except. When you put it in drive and press the accelerator, you can feel it try to move forward, but the brakes are engaged. Even in neutral the car won't move. Pressing the brake does nothing. Maintenance required light is on. What did I do wrong.

"Ready"light? …in "Neutral" I don't think it's supposed to move, in fact I'd be more worried if it did move!!! hope this helps (…but need more information!) - Wil :(

It has been sitting parked for about four months. Parking brake was engaged the whole time. I've put it on and taken it off multiple time since and it still won't move.

Ready light is on. I know it shouldn't move in neutral, but I thought you should still be able to push it in neutral?

Parking brake "froze" on - well, it has happened to me before! Turn everything OFF and try to rock the brake free? Well, it might just work, else it's a "time to service the brakes" scenario! …sorry! :( …but welcome to PriusChat! - Good luck!!!

Yes, engine starts. I can feel that the rear wheels are what is keeping it from moving. It jerks forward like it wants to drive, but stops.

Sounds like the rear brakes are stuck! @bisco's suggestion is good (but take care with that jack, and use axle-stands if you're able - and chock the fronts!)

to rock it free, you want to be in neutral. be safe, with some curb stops in front and back.
