12.6 is low for a new battery before it is installed. you should smart charge it to 13 volts.

Most likely it will (if you find reviews, you'd know better). What I found biggest issue isn't if it works, it is how many tries it'll take to link it. For $4.4 you have not much to loose. BTW battery voltage is available on OBDII you can plot it w/o getting your hands dirty

Looks like there are some issues with v2.1.

I have v1.5 (bigger one) and it works OK except it is a b!tch to link up sometime

You'll probably be fine, but it's probably a good idea to hook a new battery up to an appropriate smart charger, let it run 'till it's happy with it. Nothing stopping you from doing a charging session post-install, wouldn't hurt. You want a smart charger in the 3~4 amp range.

Issue came back after 1 or 2 months.

I rarely use the car since I have a Leaf. It is in fact for sale as owning 2 cars doesn't make much sense since I work from home.

So I called Toyota, we're talking about 500 CAD$. Their mechanics suspect a faulty oxygen sensor. I looked for replacing it myself with my father. He just took the car yesterday and removed the sensor at the manifold. He measured the resistance and it is about 14 ohms where it should be 1.8 to 3.4 ohms. Great !

So I shopped for a new sensor and discovered that there are 2 sensors, one upstream the catalytic converter and the other, downstream. Am I right to replace the one upstream ?

Check that battery has a good ground contact, no terminal corrosion and it is charged. This may be causing problem too.

But this is 1st sensor (on exhaust manifold) it is usually ~$30s on RockAuto.com You will need a special socket to remove it, but you can get it on loan in AdvanceAutoparts, Autozone, etc. I'd recommend Denso they a little bit more but worth it.

I found it was more than 100$ for the upstream one. My father removed it, he didn't tell me anything about a special tool. I'll need to speak with him.

Apologies. Just checked RockAuto and it is listed there for $109. Cheapest one is $93. The ones I've bought for other cars were fraction of that.

Did not know they were so expensive for Gen3. Part # DENSO 234-9090, maybe you'll find it cheaper

Just spoke with my father. He says there are 2 catalytic converters and he removed the sensor before those, but it was not that much close to the motor. He will have a second look once he comes here.
