Check engine light

    can a dirty passenger cabin air filter or dirty engine oil cause the CEL to come on?

    CEL comes on for Emissions Control issues: catalytic converter, fuel vapor containment (gas cap), etc.

    cannot be caused by dirty filter or oil.
    2015? probably the loose gas cap mentioned above.

    Until you have the fault codes read, it’s going to be a blind guess. If you don’t have a scanner, take over to AutoZone or other parts place and have it scanned (free). Then post the fault code on this thread. Then, maybe someone can help you sort it out.
