Your car runs out of gas "CHECK HV SYSTEM"

Sensor not connected properly to fuel injectors "CHECK HV SYSTEM"

MAF sensor dirty "CHECK HV SYSTEM"

Low on blinker fluid "CHECK HV SYSTEM"

Seriously is that not the most useless warning to exist? Can't tell you how many times I immediately went to troubleshoot the battery to then find out its not the issue. If it comes up for nearly every malfunction then it becomes a bit redundant, no?

i cannot wait for the day when the display presents the trouble codes directly, then brings up the troubleshooting tree

As long as it says " check HV system " most older mechanics will say "sorry, I don't know enough to work on hybrids... You'll have to take it to the Toyota Stealership." Think of how many people get fleeced for $5K or more in parts and repairs because of the error code not being specific enough?

Part of the problem is the unintentional pun on HV. The message means CHECK [HYBRID VEHICLE] SYSTEM, but too many people read it as CHECK [HIGH VOLTAGE] SYSTEM, and then their minds go straight to the battery.

You just have to think of the car system as a little baby, when it cries (check hybrid system), you have to figure out why it's crying and not automatically assume the baby is hungry
