Well I have finally come across a problem I have never seen before. I washed the engine last week then sprayed it down with silicon and have a check hybrid system error. I figured that the fault would go away when everything dries. I do not have a cel and prius drives. I pulled the white cable in the fuse box for 10 minutes to reset the ecu and "check hybrid system" error pops up in minutes. I just used techstream today for the first time and have found error P0AA6. I have also tried to clear the code in techstream but no luck. I have pulled an HV battery before so I am very aware of the dangers and will keep priuschat members posted. I think this error code is a ground fault of some sort with an orange/HV.

I have hosed down the engine in the past with zero problems. I am thinking that the seals that protect the electrical bits have dried up and are no longer making electrical connections water tight, bummer. At least the engine looks clean.

I am still learning how to use the data stream. I am just clicking on buttons and hope the car does not catch on fire.

I don't know what time zone you're in but if you want to send me an email with your phone number I can probably call you later tonight and tell you what to do to figure it out. My email is Travis@Atomicauto. Com

B1498 ac line maybe, water/silicon has a short possibly. I will pull the disconnect and pull all the orange wires off and clean it with electrical contact cleaner. Ac has not been working correctly. So this would make sense.

See short wave highest value at .03, there's a dead short somewhere

You can add a little dielectric grease to the connectors too to help keep the seals closed and corrosion and water out. I also put it on the posts of all 12V batteries to keep the corrosion down. Here is what the mfg says about the grease. "Electrical connections are susceptible to the chemicals and moisture in their environments. If a connection develops corrosion it can affect the way the entire electrical system functions. Dielectric grease keeps moisture out of electrical connections. Use dielectric grease on spark plug wires and trailer hitch connections to prevent fusing, Dielectric grease can be used on battery terminals to keep them corrosion free. Prevent voltage leakage by using dielectric grease to seal high energy ignition systems. With a high temperature tolerance, dielectric grease is suitable for high heat under hood applications"

I believe I have water/refrigerant in the hv side of the ac compressor. When I isolate/unplug the ac hv plug from the compressor the code does not pop. I also have short wave highest value at 4.98v, so no more short. I found water in this plug last night and cleaned it out and ac started working. I need special sockets for these bolts to remove the top to see whats inside. 196ohms from the hv to compressor. IMG_0187.JPG IMG_0188.JPG

I would just get a used compressor. You can probably get one for 50 bucks. You need to make sure that whoever charges the AC afterwards knows what they are doing because they are supposed to use special oil that does not conduct electricity.

PS. By using techstream and shortwave highest value there was no guessing with this. I hope that people can learn from your example. You accurately diagnosed what was wrong with your car using science! Glad I could help

$77.48 ac compressor on eBay with 59k
I will buy a new condenser, dryer and compressor oil.
I already have a vacuum pump and gauges so I just need to find out how much oil to install in the compressor. Then I need to use techstream or jump the high pressure switch to draw the refrigerant in. I have successfully recharged the ac in my old 2005.

$161.37 total price. I know the stealership charges $1500+ I am not sure if I like saving money or the satisfaction I can do it myself. The techstream software is awesome.

I have all the parts to install but the junk yard ended up sending me a 2010 prius c A/C compressor..... :cautious:
So I noticed that everything looks the same as far as bolt pattern to mount, the connector fits straight to the housing and high/low pressure side are the same. So I said what the hell, let's hit the ball were it lies and install this thing.

I had to take apart the new/used compressor because they did not put plugs covering the high/low pressure feeds. I found sand/dirt and had to disassemble to clean it out. The old compressor grounded out and had continuity from the plug to ground. The newer compressor was filled with 4.8 ounces of nd-11 oil and installed in the prius. Condenser will go in tomorrow.

Saw this at work today and had a laugh. The claims adjuster did not know it was on his car.

Success! Used techstream to control the rpm's of the compressor as I added the refrigerant.
