Well here we are on a trip to Vegas from Phoenix and half way in Nothing AZ, the check Hybrid System lights up. How long until it completely dies?

Still have 2 hours to go... Thinking about stopping in Kingman AZ and see about renting a truck n trailer to finish the trip and check it out in Henderson. It as 153k miles. 2011

    Oil level ok? Coolant levels?

Anything and everything can trigger CHS warning and engine symbol. A momentary signal loss, hopefully.

    Codes read...

P0A80 - replace Hybrid Battery Pack

    Well my options are:
    1. Tow it to Henderson find shop
    2. Tow it to LA (where I live) DIY

I can do the work myself with help from friend. But in LA. Since I am on way to Vegas now will have to tow it with u haul truck and trailer. Then to LA

Yikes. Not that there's ever a good time for that, but this is worse. Glad you're the kind of guy who can take care of himself. I think, if it was me and I already had it on a trailer, I'd rather work on it myself at home.

Wow, Gerry, so to hear this- especially when you're so far from home.

This seems a bit premature as it's only a '11. You're barely past the CARB warranty of 150 miles. I'd contact Toyota's customer service and inquire about a good will credit for a new battery. Good luck.

check it with tech stream before proceeding. if it does turn out to be the battery, call toyota, they may help defray the cost.
