My significantly cheaper ($65) general-purpose AGM just passed 7 years in my Prius, and is still going.

Good for you, but statistically, we have more problems with aftermarket AGM than Yuasa (Truestart) battery.

I bought a new Toyota 12V battery (June 2022 manufacture date) yesterday with 10% off -- so $208.xx (plus tax). When I called, they told me the advertised "10% off parts" was supposed to be only in conjunction with work performed by the dealer, but they gave me the discount anyway. This was at Kool Toyota on the NE side of Grand Rapids.

I bought a new OEM battery with a 10% discount, then treated myself to a CTEK 4.3A charger -- a Prime Day special. I've hooked the positive lead to the terminal in the fuse box, but the only way I could find to bring the lead out of the fuse box was to have it pinched between the edges of the box and the cover. Did you find a better way to bring the positive lead out?

I cut off the red plastic shoulder of that positive lead; then you can bend it down much closer to the connection, get it to fit.

Did you manage to get the wire with its connecting eyelet up alongside the thick white wire and then connect it along with that thick wire?

Did you get the cover off that connection ok? I did it again just this afternoon and man, it never gets easier: two fussy tabs you’ve got to work on, back and forth while prying up.

Yes, I got the cover off, but it took a little while. I hope it will be faster next time.

Is there a 12v battery self-test mode on a 2015 Prius 4? The YouTube videos say to press the "info" button, but mine has no such button.

Turn the headlight on and off slowly 3x, it will show the menu. In ACC mode it should read above 11.5 V. With headlights ON for 1 minute, if it stay above 11V under this load, it still has plenty of life. If it is below 11V, it is time to shop around. Below 10V, it is completely dead.

Electronic battery testers are cool, around $50~80. I'm using a Solar BA5; it's current iteration is BA9 I think.
