    Too BIG of a leap?
    I never heard that one.
The Volt is a step backwards from the EV-1 if you ask me.

Do you suppose the 7500 tax credit would be dependent on your income? Who would get the full credit and who would get nothing?

One example: Married filing joint with around 65000 of TAXABLE INCOME (net of itemized or standard deductions and of personal exemptions) without significant other tax credits (child tax credit, etc etc) would reach the 7500 level. For every 1000 of other tax credits, add about 4,000 to the income requirement to get the full credit.

    Phew, quite an emotive subject.

I wish it well. It might not be perfect, others may or may not have a better product. But it's not far from being sold and it'll be good to see an EV (of sorts) on the roads - surely?

If it's an inferior product to the Leaf or the PHEV Prius, then time and sales will tell. In the mean time I think it's an exciting development and it's a shame we'll have to wait another year or so for one in RHD form.

They are using celebrity (our president) to promote it's image, trying to mimic Prius' success. The problem with that approach is that, the car has 1) to be affordable to everyday Joe and 2) the car has to to up to the chore. I don't think the Volt has both of them.
