    There is a Chicago Prius Group, as well as the Madison Hybrid Group (Madison, WI)

    I have run the Madison Hybrid Group since 2004. Our next meeting is July 27th 10-noon at Smart Toyota on Odana Rd in Madison. Call any time if you want to chat. Eric Powers- 608-729-4082

    Just know it's called Chicago Hybrid Group.
    Tony Schaefer was involved. Don't know much more.
    I'm sure he'd be happy to have some help running things and planning events.

    Yeah, Wayne Mitchell and I started the CPG back in 2005 and kept it going until around 2011 I think. It got to around 140 registered members and we would routinely have ~30 people at our meetings.
    But it was just the two of us organizing the meet-ups, purchasing things to raffle off, sending meeting notes, maintaining the website, and holding down full-time jobs and trying to keep our respective wives and families happy. After a while, it got to be too much. I stepped back in my efforts and Wayne kept it going for a while before I think he stopped also. I started the FB page in hopes of posting Chicago Green info and Prius info along with other hybrid news. But in the end, even that is time-consuming and someone new finds it about once every three months.

    Wayne and I are still active in the Prius community but just not as group leaders anymore.

    Thanks for the info I know it takes a lot of time to this, I guess I am surprised here in Chicago with all the Prii around someone else is not running a club. I was going to talk to the GM at my dealer to see if they would have interest in setting up a club and using the dealership I was invited to the Madison group but it's to far. Yes that was me on FB.

    It takes time to plan the meetings, but it can be done.

    My itch for the get-togethers, the friendships and the techie has never gone away. What's missing is the time to keep something going. As I said, there were two of us and we were swamped. But I'd love to be an active member.

    O.k. so you now have two people.
    Set a day, time and place to meet it that fits in your schedule.
    Don't worry about other's schedules for now. Do what works for you.

    If you do it at a dealer you can likely get some free eats or swag. Also nice for winter meetings because they often will let you place a car inside if you have something special to discuss.
    Or if you meet at a local restaurant (Culver's for example) they may be able to offer a discount.
