Continental working on electric turbos was mentioned in passing in the 48V mild hybrid article. Interesting if they got the cost down to the point for commercial use to be available along side this mild hybrid.

A start/stop micro-hybrid is good enough for a 1mpg gain on the window sticker. The iEloop Mazda6 gains 2mpg in city over its not so equipped sibling. I don't think it as start/stop. This mild hybrid should give a sticker improvement within that range. Real world, it should do better than the start/stop simply by having the larger battery to allow more auto stops. Using a super capacitor likely allows the Mazda to recapture more energy during braking, but none of that captured energy is directly applied to propelling the car.

The original Malibu hybrid with BAS got a 2mpg improvement in the city. It was a 36V system, and I believe a NiMH battery. This should allow bigger gains.
