has anyone else got a view or experience on of city mode gives less torque than ev mode.

Those morning I forgot to turn it on an it felt like there was more pull going up hill...

OK. Might be the throttle response, however, i suspect its another layer on top of the ECO button as well - thus making the battery last that little bit longer - probably by reducing the watts (?) to the motor and therefore reducing torque

I use CITY MODE a lot, and never take it out of ECO or really put it into HV mode unless the battery is depleated.

On the motorway (freeway) the City Mode works fine as it allows electric up to 62 mph and won't turn on the ICE.

I don't personally know, but Googling for congestion charge uk "ev city" might be insightful.

because we get power mode and all of our engines in regular cars come in larger sizes (corolla, yaris, etc)

From what I have read "city mode" means that the ICE won't come on unless you really floor the throttle. Apparently there are "zero emission" zones in some European cities, and city mode helps insure that you won't inadvertently violate the restriction. As far as I know, we don't have anything like that in the U.S. or Canada.

BTW, "Power" mode in the U.S. doesn't increase the available power. It just changes the power curve on the throttle (distance pushed vs. commanded power) to make it feel peppier. Floor it in either ECO or POWER mode, and you get the same power (from the combined ICE and electric motor).

Ahhhh....Maybe thats whats happening with me. Sometimes in eco mode, going at a slight upward grade, I push the gas and hear the engine picking up but really no acceleration, almost like when you try to switch into 3rd gear on a manny but accidentally hit 5th and get no throttle response.
