Tldr: old car disposal or parting out. Ideas?
Original owner. Have an electrical short in tranny or main battery.(forgot error code) Cat is failing for the last 2 years(p0420). Or in other words won't pass inspection next year. Took her in to the hybrid mechanic told me would be pretty expensive to fix and probably will have more issue going forward.
Ballpark figure is 1700 + labor for exhaust system, and 3 grand for battery replacement + ect.. stuff. If I stop before I fix a rear door handle that is busted and seat belt that doesn't work it's North of 5 grand and seems like it's unfortunately not worth getting fixed.
Live in southern California: a lot of people drive fast and with large vehicles, don't feel safe driving around here... With my slow take off and driving with safty and fuel efficiency as the top factor's.
So what do, I do if I don't get her fixed? Is there best practices for old hybrid retirement?
    Thanks in advance.
