Now that winter is nearing, and daily highs/lows are in the 30s/20s, I’d like to try out climate prep using my fob. Two questions - do the rear lights blink as well as headlights? (Wondering if I could see that it’s working from my work window)

Also, if I left the heated seats switched on, would they pre-warm as well?

I see you have the Advanced model, any reason why you're not using the Entune App?

Oh, just for the fun of pushing the fob and watching the car react from my window at work.

This is my favorite feature now that is cold in Michigan. There are quite a few variables to it, which are covered in pages 509-511 of the owners manual.

You made me curious, so I checked out a couple. When you turn it on with the key fob, the front and rear lights flash once and it beeps once. It also locks all the doors if they are unlocked, then starts heating. If you turn it off, all the lights flash twice and it beeps twice. It doesn’t unlock.

I tried the seat heater. It won’t preheat, probably because the seat heater only runs when the ignition system is on. This system doesn’t start up the car. The seat heater does remain on when you start the car, if it was on before.

If the car is plugged in, either charging or done, it will use your household current for this operation, thus saving your traction battery charge.

The heating operation turns off if you open any car door.

Quite by accident I found that I can’t start this operation using the Entune app if the car is unlocked. It results in a warning message, but doesn’t lock itself. This came up when getting ready to leave and trying it with the car in the garage unlocked. But you can change the temp setting from last in car setting to either max warm or max cold. Also, you can start either the front or back defrosters if there is snow or ice on the car. That could be really handy.

    Enjoy!

Wow, thanks for the reports of your experiments! Cold and sleety/snowy here now, so I may be trying this out tomorrow. Too bad the seat doesn’t turn on - that would really have been nice.

    Vielen Dank!
