I'm looking to enable EV mode and want to use the CC switching method and make the module myself. What does Coastal have in the heat-shrink for the $45 module they sell? I'm guessing that it's a one-shot relay. Does anybody know for sure?

If anyone's got the electronic details on their product, please post.

A relay and some wire taps can be had for less than $5, but don't know where I would get the proprietary pin for the connector.

    thx

It would be much easier (and cheaper) to simply run a wire from pin #27 to Ground with a push button in between. It won't be the CC stalk, but it'll do the same thing and will be instant.

Read the canonical DIY document on it..
    .
There have been several reports of Coastal's little timer hack
being unreliable/nonfunctional, not to mention always imposing
a delay before activation, and if you're trying to turn the
steering wheel at the time you're probably hosed. There are many
    reasons to just go direct.

I followed the same page hobbit pointed out, where I deviated from the plan was instead of installing a button I opted to use the "high beam flash" from the headlight stalk (found here on Darell's site:EV page). I like the fact that nothing in outward appearance is different from stock.
