    Starting on Jan 1st , 2017, you get a $5,000 tax credit for purchasing a new Prius Prime. Prior to 2017, it was a calculation of purchase price × battery size ÷ 100 but that's all changed. If you finance the purchase , you can opt to have the finance copy take the $5k off the initial price and finance the rest , then the finance company gets the credit from the State. If you bought the Prime outright, you have to wait until tax time next year.
