My wife owns a 2006 Prius which she is in love with.
For the last three gas fillups the computer showes that she is getting 41.6 MPG constantly. It never changes. No mater if you have gone 1 mile or 400 miles. The MPG is going back to zero when the car is filled up and I have manually reset it. Yesterday she had gone 2 miles and the MPG was showing 41.6. I know that this is impossible. Is this a computer problem or something I can correct? I need help soon as the warrenty is close to running out.

It does sound like that there is a problem with the mpg MFD display if it keeps showing the same number. Does it go to zero automatically after a fill-up or do you press the reset button. If you haven't already done so press the reset button and see if the 41.6 showing goes to 0 and maybe the press of reset fixes it. Keep trying this a few times if it doesn't reset properly and if it still doesn't then take it to the dealer.
If it was my car I would let the dealer know either way since you are so close to the expiry of your warranty. That way you registered the problem with Toyota and have some leverage if the problem persists after the warranty expired.
    Best of luck,
    Gabe

With the 2006 the mpg does not reset automatically when you fill up. You have to press reset.

If you want to experiment, you can try disconnecting the 12V auxiliary battery for a few minutes, to see if you can clear the mpg memory that way. If that doesn't work or if you don't care to experiment, a dealer visit would be warranted.

How about the newer models? 2007 and 2008. do they reset automatically?

my 2007 resets after about 1.5-2 miles, after a fillup.
