Considering purchasing a 400K mile Prius C

    I can get better cars for $4k and less than 100k in miles too + clean 1 owner

    I would require a warranty be thrown in for good measure....have the car checked out by an honest dealer....you could consider it a Surprise Package and just go for it.....

    Initial post was April of 2017, water under the bridge now. I don't think you could find a 400K Prius c with a worthwhile warranty, at that kind of mileage you expect problems.

    That is a certifiable crazy!

    As GenII owner. Consider this in addition to battery and oil burning issue:
    - Seat condition (drive seat)
    - Suspensions/struts
    - Radio
    - Wheels/Tires
    - Transmission fluid change (overall condition of transmission)

    Small things but it will add to costs...

    But for $1500 or less it's crazy good..

    If the owner took extra good care of the car 400k is nothing. If it was my car at 400k miles there would be no measurable wear on moving parts lol! The battery is the issue and for that I run the bat fan speed at 6 full speed with the AC always pointing down to reach the bat intake. You also run a prolong charger on the bat and it will never die! Only thing should be done long before 400k miles to get max life!

    Really? A few simple tweaks, and you've got a car that lasts forever? If only you'd explained all that to the Toyota engineers, they'd have a super car, lol.

    Really! The Toyota engineers already know but it is impractical and would never be approved and here's why.

    The car will last the warranty and anything past that point is a bonus. Toyota builds things to last longer but there are some areas that will be weaker due to practicality like the battery. The cooling is the issue with battery life. Hot places die faster while guys in Canada get much more life. Toyota will not run the fan at full speed like I do due to noise which some people will complain about. Maximum MPG which is hurt a tad with the running of the bat fan at full speed. Telling customers to direct cold air to the bat inlet will hurt sales and Hybrid perceptions. Having a harness in the trunk compartment and having owners do a pack calibrations every 3-6 months with a prolong. Using the best oil and filter possible with high filter capability then OEM. Using the best oil possible including going higher in viscosity over time and age. Testing the engine and trans oil to see how said oils performs with data showing wear metals and oil life as a interval bench mark.

    Very impractical but if your goal is max life then these are some of the things that will greatly help you achieve it.
