    Hey guys,

My wife is looking at a different style (but same size) of wheels for the 2014 Prius Five package that we just bought. Has 23k on it and on the wheels. Only damage to the wheels is a couple of tiny nicks, but no curb rash whatsoever. If we were to go with some aftermarket option or something, what would the factory 17's be worth? Could I get like $400 for the set? Just figuring out the economics of swapping. Is there an interest level in these wheels?

    Thanks!

I'd be willing to buy them for $400 for the factory 17" wheels, plus I'll pay for shipping. Send me pics

Yes there's an interest level for these and yes $400 is in the ballpark. Main problem with stock 17s is their weight but doesn't seem to affect mileage but 1-2mpg over the stock 15s. Personally I have forged 17s that weight less than the stock 15s so I have a little wider tire on them (205/50/17 vs stock 215/45/17). I don't like the factory slightly stretched look. My .02

@ZeroTX : Sleep on it, they might grow on you. OEM rims don't require hub adapter rings too.

Just my 2 cents: if I was looking at two Prius 5 on dealer's lot, one with the stock rims and one with aftermarket, I would prefer the stock rims, devalue the other.

(Could be chauvinism on my part: our Canadian Touring has the 17's.)

True. Although if I were looking at two Prius 5's and one had aftermarket wheels, TRD sway bar, lowering springs, tint, LED taillights, then I would of course lean toward that one :p

    Touche, lol.

@ZeroTX , also: price the stock 17" OEM rims through dealership parts department. It's an eye opener.

Hmmm, well the option exists to just store the stock 17's in my garage until such time as we sell/trade the car, but it would be a lot of trouble to go through at a time when we usually don't have a ton of time.

I will note that one of the wheels I'm trying to steer towards is 2014+ Corolla S wheel, which as I understand it is direct fit, OEM lug nuts, etc, and they are built by Enkei.

What about the Prius Plus wheels? All that I can find online look like they are chrome or something, but I've seen a Plus with painted versions of those wheels (wife hates chrome and I agree w/ her, inappropriate to chrome wheels on a Japanese car...).

That Chrome rim looks too shiny, agree.

The plus wheels are glossy dark gray painted I believe. The Persona wheels are the 5 wheels with Plus wheel paint...or at least that's what they look like

So I think you guys very well answered my question: Yes, if I want to sell the good condition stock Five wheels (17's), I can probably sell them fairly easily.... but some concern exists about aftermarket wheels (I agree w/ that concern with regard to resale). The one question I still have is, do you think that same concern exists with OEM Toyota Corolla S wheels? They are 100% Toyota.... Thoughts?

It would still affect the resale value of the whole car UNLESS someone didn't know they didn't belong (after all, they say Toyota on them)

thanks. I see you are running aftermarket wheels... either RPF1s or knock-offs.... why did you go that route?

They are Work Emotion CR KAI replicas by Dronell if I remember right. They weigh less than stock 15" Toyota alloy wheels. That's why I picked them up. That and the price was right.

Corolla rims should be 100% compatible, and no spacers at hub needed. I think. Our OEM are the 17", and every winter I swap over to snow tires on Corolla steel rims, no problems. If you can somehow get Corolla take-off rims, work with a dealership, they could check fit.

They're a direct bolt on. I was told Enkie no longer makes wheels for Toyota by the dealership, supposedly had a falling out.
I have a new set of these with less than a tank of gas on them... I'll trade, PM me.

Are you in the Houston area? Just wondering how to do the logistics and not leave the car up on jackstands. PM me?
