Hey guys and girls, This weekend I changed my 2011's brake pads and rotors and had to open the bleed valve on one of the calipers because the piston would not go in otherwise (screwed in fine on the other side). Now, when I drive I notice that the brake actuator makes noise every 3rd time that the non-regen brakes activate. Does anyone know why this might be? Do I need a brake system flush?
you probably got some air into the system and they need to be bled. not sure, but i think you need tech stream.
For 3rd gen brake bleed the car should be in "invalid mode". That's described in the attachment "...fluid replacement...". And also watch @NutzAboutBolts video on brake fluid change, pinned at top of third gen maintenance sub-forum. Whenever the calipers are taken off the rotors on 3rd gen, it's good to have the negative 12 volt battery cable disconnected, at the outset, and then when everything is reinstalled: pump the brake pedal to take up any excess travel, and then reconnect the battery cable. Something is fishy that you could only screw in the piston on one side. It's rear brakes we're discussing btw?
