Luxury vehicles were stolen all over the world with sophisticated anti-theft technology more so that the one on Prius. Prius is simply not pricey enough for them to be interested in them. You think the anti-theft system on a BMW, or MB is not as good as the one on Toyota/Lexus? They all contain chips to authorize the ignition. Stealing them is not as easy, but being done everywhere.

Here is one I saw in a news cast video (and the video from security camera).
A guy bought a BMW X5 after his cars were stolen several times in the past parking on the street. He decided that BMW has the most sophisticated anti-theft technology (at least his salesman told him so). He parked his X5 where there was a street security camera, which recorded the whole process of stealing.
A vehicle approached after mid-night. A guy stepped off. He plied into the X5, disengaged the alarm, and ripped the computer box off after a few minutes. He carried the box, closed the door of X5, jumpped into the waiting vehicle, and off he went. A couple hours later, he came back with a computer box (same or not, and maybe a key - couldn't tell). He went into the X5 (effortlessly since he opened it already), installed the computer box, and drove the X5 off in a few minutes.

So, please don't think that thieves can't crack this chipped security system on Prius.
Prius is simply too "cheap" for this kind of thieves to steal them.
SKS does not make this car more difficult to steal. It just makes owners more
    convenient to access the vehicles.
