I was gonna say if it the swap throws a code or codes as long as the car runs and drives as it should and gets the same mpg it wouldn’t bother me. I don’t have vehicle inspections where I live so an engine code wouldn’t be an issue. I should have another 70 miles out of a tank with the swap. I appreciate the positivity on the swap. Looking forward to the project. Should be underway in the next few weeks.

That would be a very long commute! Have someone that wants to trade a corolla for my truck so once I have another car the tank swap can get started.

I believe this is still a work in progress ..I am also optimistic that OP completion will have a rewarding/successful outcome.

So an update I just bought another car so I’m hoping pretty soon I’ll start on the tank swap.

There is a valve on every car that when it goes bad it won't let you fill tank. When I remember what it is called I'll post

The problem is the actual bladder inside the tank

There is a thread which has a teardown of a Gen2 Fuel Tank taken apart from the Evap system.(when you state valve/show link or image)

    FYI
    Gen2 Fuel system
    Metal filler neck w/evap hose
    Metal Case Fuel Tank
    Plastic Bladder
    Fuel pump inside bladder
Evap charcoal canister and lines on top of fuel tank

The Gen 4 has a valve that seals off the filler neck after 30 minutes or if the fuel door is closed.

The valve I'm referring to is usually in the carbon filter.

When a gas tank is being filled it displaces atmosphere. If this valve is closed when fueling it kicks off the fueling like the tank is full.

I know which valve you’re referring too. Since the weather has heated up in Florida I haven’t had any problems filling the tank it’s only when the weather is cooler. The rubber bladder gets stiff and doesn’t like to expand. Plus I want to swap to the Corolla tank because it would give me a longer range between fill ups.

More likely the solenoid in the valve has a hard time operating in the cooler temp

Plastic bladder in Gen2 has minimal contraction in sub 32F weather and vice versa in hot Texas summer.
