For the tablet in the dash...yes...I heard the same comment from a lot of people who were looking at the pictures or reviews.
However, as soon as I sat in the car and drove it - the tablet seemed perfectly positioned and integrated.

But, what seems as a funny design to me is the center console infront of the passenger. It is kind of huge and without much purpose.

You misspelled "buy another vehicle design".
Toyota WANTSyou to think they are the only reliable manufacturer. Perhaps exchange a little reliability to get better usability & design.
I expect SOMEBODY puts knobs on their car radios in Australia.

My second car was a 1969 Toyota Corolla. Since then almost all my cars have been Toyota.
Toyota MUST change their designs or I will move to something less assaulting on the eyes. Who would want to be caught DEAD in one of those??

Nice! And company funded - even better.
I am often visiting Netherland and am impressed with the number of hybrid and electric vehicles. Often I use the taxi electric app to order the Tesla :)

If they've already got this "trek" version, I can't even begin to comprehend why they don't bring that to the US. Just offer it on the Pacific Coast and in Canada where efficient cars sell.

The tracked on tablet looks bad, but it's good design since it puts it at eye level. Actually, the best is to not offer a screen at all, but it's expected now. There's research out that there's just no safe way to put a screen in a car.

Efficient cars sell in many other states as well.

    *Ahem!*
I definitely bought the Prius here in Virginia for efficiency instead of looks.

    What, and risk Rav4 profits?
We should count ourselves lucky to just get the plain jane Corolla hatchback.

It depends on how well the Golf Alltrack sells compared to the Tiguan (yes the new Tiguan is much larger than the old Tiguan so there is size going for it over the Golf Alltrack).

Their sales numbers should give Toyota an idea. Another is the Crosstrek vs. Forester numbers.

The Corolla Trek/Cross won’t steal that many sales from the RAV4.

Well, I still remember when Honda had cancelled all their Civic hatchbacks here.*glares at CR-V*

The US was going to get the Focus Activ to continue the model, but then tariffs happened.
