Cost to fix front bumper

    But it is arguable and you tell them it's a safety issue and you are uncomfortable with it. As for body panel I do agreed they will go with salvageable parts but if you stand your ground for new there is a chance you will get it. Just put up a good fight since you weren't at fault. So why get the short end of the stick?

    A few reasons:

    1. Because the insurance policy more-n-likely says salvage parts may be used, in non-visible areas, as long as they're completely ok. Heavy suspension components for example.

    2. Because it keeps perfectly usable parts in use.

    3. Because you get more bees with honey. In other words, if you're reasonable about part replacement, you may get a better response in other areas: diminish value compensation, loaner cars, whatever.
