    I know, I know. I'm nuts.

With incentives totaling $15,250 off a Volt I am trying to figure out if I can make it work. I still owe something like $37,500 for my PIPa (13,500 miles) because I have not received (or filed) for the federal tax incentive yet ($2,500). I put nothing down so my monthly payment is $659 (60mo 0% financing).

With Volt prices so low ($3,250 dealer, $3,000 Chevy bonus, $7,500 federal tax, $1,500 CA rebate) and 0% financing for 48mo, it makes me wonder if I can swing the Volt and not lose too much in the deal.

I would buy a volt if I could make it work. The Prius is great but the Volt is better.

It's not so much that the Volt is better although it is more fun to drive. It is the potential for better fuel economy now that I can charge at work and for a lower monthly payment and less total owed.

You paid too much for the PIP, you may get $30K for trade.

True. California didn't get the huge discounts the East Coast states did so I paid $37k before taxes.

Sales tax alone is quite a lot in CA, not to mention depreciation. Maybe if CA approves HOV stickers for PiP's thru 2018 you can get good trade value in CA? On the other hand, if they do not approve the value may go down. do not know.

Shop around, ask for quotes, doesn't hurt to get numbers. You might get an offer that makes a lot of sense, THEN you can wonder if you should give it a try.

That is a good deal. What is the purchase price of the Volt? Remember if you get the Volt there will probably be similar deals further down the road.

I think you're chasing false economy... You'll probably end up trading a lot of dollars for a little savings in fuel.

You get $1,500 CA rebate for PiP as well right? It was not mentioned in your post.

$15k discount on any car is crazy. I bet GM is losing money. LG Chem is also losing money on the battery. Gotta wonder how long they can sustain.

agreed - one owner who posts on here was trying to sell his advanced PiP for 27k.
I've come to grips that there will be more improvements and price reductions to come but I'm enjoying mine now and paying for no gas $

look at this for an improvement - 80% gain on charge time for Spark

    OMG that is hilarious.

Volt is tiny, too tiny, like a smart car.

Yeah. It was kind of a wash though because I did receive that rebate for my PIP already.

My dealer (purchased my PiP just a month ago) said there'll be a PiP with much greater range next year...
just another choice for consumers - probably comes with greater weight, longer charge times, high cost so many like me are fine with the base
