    Disconnecting the 12V battery should do the trick.
    I have the Carista OBD dongle and there are several apps for the iPhone (and I am sure for Android too) that do all sorts of checks and reports and allow you to configure some parameters as described in the user's manual, without the need to go to a dealer to change the settings.
