I can't seem to activate cruise control on my 05 Prius. I went to the dealership and they checked the car out and said it's all good, cruise works and everything is fine, but I can't seem to activate it. Can anyone help me out please?

    Thanks.

Hmmm, this may sound stupid but did you turn on the cruise before you tried to engage it? The cruise must be turned on every time you go into ready mode.

Yeah I turned cruise on and then push the set button downward.

Were you driving over 40kmh? (about 45 on the Speedo?)

Make sure the Cruise lite shows on the dash and then hold the stick down for a second--longer than a than a quick flick. When you read the manuals, it doesn't say this (but do read all the manuals)!

I second this one. Make certain that the light is on (Cruise) when you turn on the system. If you still have trouble after that and have read the manual then I suggest you return to the dealer and have them double check the system. If they say it is working, ask them to show you how to use it.

About the only thing that goes bad on the cruise is the stalk switch and the clock spring. I haven't heard of any other issues except for when the inverter shuts down and disables the cruise and other things as well.

Minimum speed to engage the US model Gen II Prius is 25 to 26 MPH. Anything less than that, the cruise will not engage.

Hope you get it figured out.

Yeah I tried everything, nothing seems to work. I was driving on the highway at 60MPH.

BTW, you can't engage CC in B mode.

    1. You need to see the CRUISE light come on, after you turn the cruise system on by pushing the button at the end of the control stick.

    2. You need to push the control stick downwards to set the speed, after you are traveling more than 25-30 mph.

If this doesn't work, maybe there is something wrong with the switches in the control stick.

If the dealer ok'd it, imho, you must be putting it into b mode inadvertently.

No one has mentioned this, but you might want to see if your brake lights are on all of the time. If they are, the cruise will not engage.

I tried everything mentioned on the forum and followed the instruction on the manual. Nothing seems to work. I think I have to take it to the dealer.
