The radar cruise control is a great feature. I notice when a car gets out of the way. The car quickly catches up to speed. Any way to make the cruise control less sensitive? I want it to slowly catch up to speed. I had an after market cruise control module on an older car. The module gave you the option of choosing the sensitivity.

I don't think so. Accelerate quickly for best FE. The rule of thumb is instantaneous mpg = 1/2 speed.

Yeah but the DRCC does accelerate quite aggressively some times esp. if the difference between the set speed and current speed is large.

Try it in ECO mode. You may see a difference

I do have it in ECO mode. The engine revs really high.

I recall Toyota saying somewhere (Can't remember if it was in Detroit or in one of their videos online at toyota.com) that the cruise control has been adjusted so that it will accelerate less aggressively than before. Maybe they're referring to the standard cruise control and not DRCC?

At least you get radar cruise control. Toyota decided not to offer it in the UK for some bizarre reason :(

    You get the HUD =P.

Apparently it's because there's too much traffic on your motorways... (so their logic is that British drivers don't use cruise control b/c of heavy traffic?). If anything, DRCC is better than regular cruise control assuming your motorways still have decent flow (travelling above 40km/h)

Above 40kmh/25mph? Ah that's the problem then :D

I think our crappy motorway network is just some big carpark. I actively avoid them as I find I get places quicker using the old road network.

You don't get the hud over there? No way! It's the best thing ever. I love it. I leave mine displaying the speed and the accelerator/eco gauge and then leave the main display showing the energy monitor with the battery/engine flow.

I find it great for keeping a check on your speed without taking your eye off the road. I very rarely refer to the dash for my speed.

So why don't you get the hud? It doesn't get in the way and it actually helps more than it could hinder.

Since 2010 is my first Prius I can't say what it was before, but a number of us on a different thread have pointed out that regular cruise control provides more aggressive accelleration than we sometimes want. So I don't think this is limited to DRCC.

Does anyone else dislike the location of the cruise control lever.
When cornering it hits on my knees.

It does accelarate to quickly. but I love it.. it has been great on my commutes.. still could use some fine tuning.
Had anyone ever experience it not working.. say if it is covered with snow or dirt?

Heavy rain has not affected my cruise. It only effects my LKA.

The owners manual mentions it canceled when "VSC is activated".

That suggests to me that you are sitting too far forward.

my only gripe with the cruise control was that the display did not allow me to monotor the fuel consumption.
Discovered the other day that pressing the display button returns the cruise control display back to your last fuel info display. Not earth shattering to most of you but a breakthrough for me.
Unfortunately the smallest change in the cruise control data flips the screen back. A car in front being detected or 'undetected' is one of these events but you just have to click the display button again.
Any other tips from others before we head of on holidays at the end of next week?

Reasons for British drivers not to use cruise control: - Expensive gas: cruise control is inefficient so less desirable - More small cars: as a result of expensive gas and less disposable income there are more small cars on the road. Smaller car, smaller engine, harder work to maintain high speed. - Mostly manual transmission: people expect to drive. In part it's cost, in part it's knowing the inefficiency of automatics. Instead of cruise control, efficient high gears were added. As an example of the fundamental difference in attitude: in the UK people* expect cars to slow down going uphill. * Well, I always did.
