The CTEK MXS 5.0 seems roughly akin to my (North American) Multi US 4.3, albeit with 5.0 amps vs 4.3. I see there's also MXS 3.8 on the GB site, another worth considering. The latter is (like the name) rated 3.8 amps.

I've got a feeling either the 3.8 or 5.0 would be fine, but for the record, Owner's Manual says 4.2 amp max (North American version, page 439).

I have both the (North American) Multi US 3300 and 4.3. I now use the 4.3, figuring it's a bit faster, though I don't really see any difference in practice. The 3300 (akin to GB MSX 3.8 in style/functions) I find simpler/easier to use. It's cheaper, likely just as good.

Sorry, no clue about the other brand.

I have a Genius 3500 and I used it to charge up my new replacement Canadian Tire battery (probably Exide AGM) before installation. Seems to work fine. I use a "Battery Tender" on Pearl S in winter when she is hibernating. It's on there now in fact. The Genius is on the workbench for mucking about with batteries. I've used it on the FJ Cruiser once, for "test purposes". ;)

    Update ,
I keept the battery under charge in recon mode ....... Fitted the battery back and this is the reading I get with everything off ,and I mean nothing is on ,the reading from the obd works without switching anything.
Same value from self diagnostic display...
With multimeter at the battery post I get 12v.
    What do u think guys?

You say with multimeter you get 12 volt? Like 12.0?

Especially with freshly charged battery, with surface charge, not good. Should be close to 13 volt.

An ex battery? (Monty Python Pet Shop sketch)

Direct connection of something like Solar BA5 at the posts would resolve the questions.

Yeah mine was around $70 Canadian dollars? Any competent battery retailer should have a pro version of the same, and would likely be willing to do a gratis check.

What's the history of your battery again? If I recall correctly it's not that old?

If it's in fact got at-rest voltage around 12.0 volt, might be time to wash your hands of it, start again. If a battery sits for protracted time at low voltage it's hard to recover bring it back.

I decided to get a new battery, due to the car milage the Toyota recommended battery will outlast the life of the car so I'm getting a cheap Varta B33 Blue Dynamic for £45 ,that should do for what is left of the life of the Prius ....about untill January 2018
