I've ridden a Dahon MU extensively. Dahon makes an amazing product in their folding bikes. The only downside being the ride is rough on anything other than smooth surfaces, because of the smaller diameter wheels.
If I commuted on public transport I'd have one in a minute.

They make units that fold yet have 26" wheels and even 700C wheels. They would ride ok. I'll have to check them out. It's going to cost about $350 to get a good hitch and carrier, and one of these is around $1000 for decent quality. It could also be taken on the airplane to exotic destinations. ;)

Maybe a better alternative to putting a hitch on Pearl?

Well, heck. I can fit about 24 of these in the Prius trunk w.o. folding the rear seats.

This photo looks like the result of a terrible parking lot accident. That's why you should always back slowly, and remember to use your backup camera. :D

Or maybe this is the result of stopping short in front of the peloton.

This is crazy... I love it. That would make a great bike to take on the train and cover the 3 miles to the train station :)

Well, it is a real bike. That's half what my last MTB cost.. and I built mine from parts myself!

The ride on that thing would be terrible. First imperfection in the road, and you're down or aching.

Yeah that bike with the mini wheels is not for riding on Earth, only over the smooth surface of Pluto.

And I'm sorry but regular sized bikes are really not that inconvenient, and I more often than not have myself a good chuckle at people on folding mini-wheel bikes pedaling their little legs off to the tune of jerky steering and getting from A to B at 1 mph. Full size folding bikes, that's another story. If you're doing 600 or 700 CC wheels, that'll be fine.

Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, I bike every day all day. Just on a real bike, ha!

i'm aware of how much REAL bikes can cost, but to take a bike to travel 3 miles... i wouldn't spend 2k ... just my 2c...

That's the whole fun of it :) If I want a smooth ride I hop on one of my road bikes. But the train is so packed and space so limited, I would only be able to take a very small foldable bike on it.
