2015 Toyota PIP... Opened the hood and found this wire dangling. Can't figure out where it could be connected too. Checked all the lights, horn and everything works. Anyone have any ideas? On my 2012 that plug connects to a little blue micro-switch in the hood release mechanism. Standing in front of the car look about 1 inch below the left end of the spring. It pushes in from left to right.

No doubt it's for the intrusion alarm. Will set it off if someone forces the hood open without the car being unlocked first.

Yes, I'll vote for the intrusion alarm. Either that or my switch is broken. I just checked and the car goes into gear with the hood unlatched. No warning light displays.

Do your cars have remote start? Looks similar to the remote start wiring when I had my 2010. Remote start wouldn't work if the hood was open, or would kill the engine if the hood was opened after using remote start...

if you pop the hood while the car is on, does it set the alarm, or is the switch set so that only forcing the hood open will set it off?

I am guessing, but the only logical guess I can come up with is the same as @Pluggo. It's part of the alarm system.

I think that because I have had the hood open gobs of times with the car in READY and never saw any indicator lights.
