Let's face it, vehicle ownership isn't really for everyone, some people don't have what is required in the brainbox to own and maintain a vehicle, some seem to need the vehicle to make up for their own poor driving skills and can't seem to cope with the driver assist features not functioning and declare the vehicle is the problem, not that these things mucking up is an inconvenience but they could drive the vehicles before all these gadgets were added, so the basic vehicle drivability is the important part, the rest are just added frills ..... complaining because the emergency braking applies when it wasn't needed ... a function that can be turned off if it's that much of a problem until the cause is fixed ..... like a driver hasn't caught something in the corner of their vision and misinterpreted what they saw and hit the brakes or swerved out of the way of something that wasn't actually a problem at all ......

In consistent range displayed when heavy towing ..... seriously, that is the vehicles fault and makes it unsuitable for every day use .... really  ....

Most of the complaints are 1st world problems, maybe walk everywhere for a mth and then drive the vehicle again and see just what issues are serious enough to walk instead of drive?

Maybe that is why the dealership keeps the vehicle for so long, it wasn't a serious problem, yet the Karen attitude took over, so now they are discovering the errors of their ways .....

BYD is banned in the US because they're a threat to US automakers, which is the ultimate subsidy... If you want references to prove that point look at what automakers in the EU are doing in response to a better car stealing their market share:

What is happening: Steps taken that limit or challenge BYD’s entry
    1. Tariffs / import duties
      • The EU has imposed (or is imposing) additional tariffs on Chinese-made battery electric vehicles (BEVs). BYD is subject to a ~17% extra duty (on top of a standard import duty) under recent EU measures. Le Monde.fr+3Automotive News Europe+3CNBC+3

      • The argument from EU regulators is that Chinese automakers may be benefitting from state subsidies that distort pricing, allowing them to undercut European manufacturers. euronews+2AP News+2
    2. Regulatory investigations
      • The EU has launched a probe into whether subsidies from China allow Chinese EVs to be sold at artificially low prices in Europe. This could lead to more punitive tariffs or trade remedies. BYD has disputed those claims. Financial Times+2CNBC+2
    3. Shifting to hybrid models to get around tariffs
      • Chinese companies, including BYD, are exporting more hybrid vehicles to the EU, which at least in some cases are exempt from or less affected by the new EV-related tariffs. euronews
    4. Competitive / market pressure from dealers and legacy automakers
      • European automaker associations (like ACEA) have expressed concern about Chinese competition and delayed or opposed some regulatory moves (or made political pressure). For example, there is pushback on measures like the 2035 ban on combustion engines, citing competitiveness versus Chinese OEMs. Financial Times

      • Dealers in Germany (for instance) have been reported to be skeptical of Chinese brands, including BYD, and that has constrained the speed and scale of BYD’s expansion. Yahoo Autos

      • Also, there are reports of legacy automakers being displeased that BYD is signing up existing dealer networks (e.g. in Germany) to sell BYD cars, which is “causing anger” in established automaker circles. Carscoops
