whew! quick start for the niro!

sorry to see the c max going away, hopefully, ford will follow up with some great offerings.

hybrids, plug in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles up 25,000 cars year over year, with overall car sales down is pretty dang good in this era of gas prices!

sad to see tepid Prius v sales too.
Bolt ahead of both Prius c AND v. Who'd have thought !
Model's X & S pulled in a couple thousand ... and considering the company did away with free unlimited supercharging, i guess that's not too bad.

Wow Ford and Toyota trading blows. Prime finally beats the volt. Niro is not bad and ioniq plugin enters the market.

Fyi I got my Pacifica hybrid. Where is it on the chart? Chrysler is going to dominate this board in may because of the delayed craziness... But wow. What a hybrid 7 passenger vehicle! I'm impressed and it's different from my prime and what I'm used to driving!

Congratulations on the Pacifica but I only report what Jeff Cobb's team identifies. I didn't see it in their data.

My bet is the tax credit makes this car make more sense for most folks. almost 10k in tax incentives and it goes over 200 miles? pretty compelling.

    CMAX going away?
That's sad. I might consider the Hybrid version if space is bigger than Prius.
I was never if fan of sedans, but I am odd man out there.

i'm not a sedan guy either. i like my wife's hycam, but the prius is much more versatile.
i think the cmax is smaller than prius hatch. not sure why they didn't have much success, mpg's?

Yep on the US sales. The Civic hybrid was canceled, these are just the last ones left on dealer lots.

Hopefully, Ford will replace the C-max with a dedicated hybrid. C-max was a conversion of an European ICE, which didn't help with efficiency.

I wonder if VW needs to use incentives to move those fixed diesels.

Source: Seven year auto sales growth cycle nears end

It's official. The red hot auto industry is finally cooling off after two consecutive years of record industry sales and seven consecutive years of annual sales increases.

U.S. industry sales of new cars and trucks fell 4.7% in April to 1.43 million, marking the fourth consecutive monthly decline in U.S. industry sales. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the sales rate came in at 16.92 million, below forecasts of 17.1 million.

“Over the past six months we’ve watched nearly every automaker go from positive to negative sales volume, confirming the plateau in this latest sales cycle," said Karl Brauer, executive publisher for Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book.

    What changed?

...that could take some time to answer.
I do recall when the auto sales were first booming, one lesser known possible explanation was winding down of the IRAQ war. It seems when military comes home there is a bump up in car sales.

Lease terms might have shifted to be more reasonable for the leaser.
