The January to February figures for the Fusion could easily be explained by changes in discounts and sales. Feb had Presidents' day.

Yes, the new Leaf is out, but we can still have discounted leftovers of the old one in the mix.

I wonder if they are dumping some on the rental companies; a common practice among major manufacturers when they want to pump sales or move a lot of iron off lots? My wife got one from Enterprise last fall. She's pretty picky and when I asked her opinion upon returning it, she said, "It's OK" which translates to neither good nor bad, didn't suck, won't complain if she gets it again, etc.

I suspect that is less likely with the hybrid models.
Ford has been deeply discounting Fusion hybrid all of last year. I'm thinking they stopped in Jan on the 2018's, but have started up again to balance out the F150 and SUVs in CAFE.

Hybrids without a plug are much better than they were a decade ago, but seem to have a low ceiling of adoption. 495,771 hybrids were sold in 2013, while 364,174 were sold in 2017 when they appeared to be improving, was less than 15,000 more than sold in 2007. They are down 7.7% versus last year.

Fuel cells appear to be dead in the water.

Plug-ins appear to be growing rapidly but will they reach a ceiling like hybrids have?

Plug ins have a draw beyond saving on fuel, and the total ownership cost of a BEV could equal that of a and ICE car this year.

So people actually looking at the total cost of the car might be more important than higher gas prices.

Honda really dragging their feet getting the all new Accord hybrid out. Says 'early 2018' which seems to be code for 'sometime before June'.

JEEEEZZ !!! what the heck went wrong w/ the Clarity Plugin?!? It's a decent car as far as most can tell . . . . and yea, the all electric is doing will 'because they're giving 'em away (lease only) for as little as $130/month in some areas.
