Depends on where you are. I can tell you there are no incentives for this car in Texas. Mine was sticker.

After January 20th there will be a $15,000 tax credit for those making over 10 million a year.

Everyone making under $100k a year will have to pay a $3,000 import tariff.

Yes. Happened to have the initial stock (2 Prime's until Jan/Feb) including the color, etc that I wanted.

That's because there's none in Texas; supply and demand and all that stuff. I've been watching cars.com and you probably got the only one in Austin. There was another in San Antonio about the same time but it's gone too. The closest one now is 772 miles away in Alabama. sssshhh, no one tell Bob Wilson! ;)

I got the purchase papers this morning:
If you go for the highest trim model in Alabama, no problem. But an affordable one was probably pre-sold before I left the dealership. So when I found the bottom trim in an acceptable color in RI, it was a simple decision and sealed the deal with a $500 deposit.

On Wednesday, I'll drive around town and complete the sales paperwork. Then I'll arrange sale of the 2010 Prius and my final travel arrangements.

I am leaning towards flying from Nashville to catch a nonstop flight and avoiding the stop-over delays. If I fly from Huntsville, the stop-over is Washington DC and January 20 would be a poor travel day. With luck, I'll be headed home on Friday and be there on Saturday.

By the end of January, everything should be ready for the maximum, Federal Tax credit, $4,500. This makes the effective price close to $24,000 . . . a perfectly reasonable price for a car replacing a 2010 Prius.

LATE THOUGHT: I've never bought a Prius or BMW i3-REx from an Alabama dealer!
    • 2003 Prius - bought in October 2005 via eBay and driven 800 miles home to Alabama from Fort Worth TX.
    • 2010 Prius - bought in May 2009 via a special promotional by Toyota USA and delivered to Serra Toyota in Decatur AL.
    • 2014 BMW i3-REx - bought in May 2016 via eBay and driven 463 miles home to Alabama from Charlotte NC.
I am going to suggest that if one remains 'loyal to local' dealer, it means ignoring better deals available for the cost of a discount ticket to pick it up and drive home.

Come on Bob - where are the MPG figures on those Prii and BMW drives? Also, crossing my fingers that the Tax Credit doesn't go away in 2017. My accountant says it's unlikely - but there is a lot of tax overhaul expected....

I'm betting no incentives. Tax year is up and holidays are over.

All the Toyota incentives were around to drive up their sales numbers before their fiscal year ends on Jan 3. I doubt if any major incentives will be around after that. I hope I'm wrong though.

There should be more deals. I was told about 3 deals a year regarding quarterly goals. For some reason the dealer said 3 not 4
