    Hey All,

    Need little advice. As you can see with my other post early morning that I was expecting my Prius 4 today afternoon. Yesterday late evening, i signed the papers (11 PM) and the Sales guy said they do not have the vehicle with them but the other dealership has it and they will secure it in the morning. Today, around 11 AM Sales guy called me and told me that the other dealership refused to trade the car so I have to wait for 2-3 weeks until they get the new vehicle from the company.

    I asked for loner or rental as it is quite long period of 2-3 weeks. but they refused to do so.

    I can understand that these kind of things happen, but dealership should make it right by providing loner or some other car for commute. that is what I am hoping for.

    So how these kind of incidents handled? If anyone has same experience ( you signed for the car/ your credit history is pulled) all the things done and car is not there.

    Is there a way to report the dealership to Toyota or someone and have the dealership correct this mess?

    I can only speak for myself, but I would cancel the purchase.
    Do you have another dealership you can do business with?
    I would never sign papers for a car that I've never even seen yet.

    The last time I reported my dealer (for charging for warrantied repairs), Regional said that the dealers were independently owned, so they couldn't tell them what to do, and referred me back to the same dealer to arbitrate my complaint.

    The whole affair of them selling you what appears to be an imaginary car smells bad. Do you have a VIN number? Why can't you go where the car is and just buy it from the other dealer? Maybe the other dealer would screw you around a little less. That this dealer will not go one inch out of their way to take care of a problem they made, even though you are buying a whole new car, suggests that the only support you will get from this dealer is those automated calls that nag you to come in and buy some kind of service. Have you checked the Better Business Bureau listings for this dealer?

    Do you mind if I ask what the financial agreement you came to was?

    Thanks for replies guys. I can't go and buy from other dealer because I am looking for silver color which is not available in the region.

    @kenmce : it was 0% APR for 72 months and price was 30,500

    Is that this car, the 2017 Prius Four? :

    Customize Your Own Car, Truck, SUV or Hybrid

    Presumably with either the $1,300 or $3,055 option package?

    The last time I went to my local dealer, they weren't willing to talk to anybody outside our region, however I could contact any dealership I wanted, so I did.

    Ok guys here is what happened in last 30 minutes.

    I told them that I would report you guys to BBB and to the regional office and some how they were able to locate the car in other state.

    The manager said if he drives this car here it will be 250 miles on the car at the time of delivery. What you guys think?

    250 miles is nothing in the big scheme of things. You will get the car you want!

    Great. Thanks. Asked them to get the car tomorrow. Their employee will drive the trade car tomorrow to the other dealership and get my car.

    Will report Back

    It should work fine to "order" a car you haven't seen - I'm just thinking back to 3 of my car purchases:
    1980, I bought from my home dealer 1200 miles from where I wanted to pick it up (at importer's depot) - test drove a green one, specified a tan interior, white paint with Goodyear tyres - they included airfare in the purchase price, but no dealer delivery. Car was what I'd ordered;
    1995, ordered white car instead of the gold one in stock, turned up 2 days later - what I'd ordered;
    2011, test-drove hatchback, I wanted a sedan version, they delivered it 2 or 3 days later.

    Run! After you threatened them, how do you think they will treat that car on the 250 mile drive?!

    Where are you located, that there are no Prius's available?

    Dealership is in Renton WA. NO silver Prius 4 in WA. General Manager said they will not do rash driving.

    Consider maybe buying out of state? Fly to California, or Oregon, and buy your Prius. You'd have the pick of the litter in CA. Dealer lots are loaded.

    This sounds crazy, but is there any way you can get to Renton, and drive the car back yourself? Or just buy it form the dealer in Renton? But either way, 250 miles at highway speeds, is not exactly the proper way to break in a new Prius engine?

    The way Prius operaties, it should be OK - the RPM varies continually with every up/down hill, switching to part/full EV continually. Much better than a Manual transmission car set on 100km/hr in 5th gear for that distance.

    We had 200 miles on our new Prius v when we took delivery. The dealership had to get it from Dallas so they drove it up to Norman, OK the following day. Not a big deal as far as we were concerned since we got the color and trim we wanted.

    The BBB is a wasted effort. Tell them you want it brought over on a flatbed truck or the deal is off. I've never bought a new car with more than 10 miles on the odometer. Anything over that tells me it was used for test drives or who-knows-what. Find another dealer - I'm sure someone has the car you want, and would love to sell it to you...

    Make sure the start mileage for the warranty begins at the mileage on the car at time of delivery to you.
