I understand those other ones, but there has to be a relatively consistent number on the range where it kicks in if it hasn't been on yet to warm up.

it let's you drive ev until that segment of the battery has been discharged. then it changes the display to a barred battery similar to the bars on non plug in. when that happens, the ice goes into warm up and you start with a 'full' hv battery.

I took your advice and I gave up on caring also - I can't get out of the 10's. It must be my route and all the other variables involved. (and yes this was with stock wheels and tires.) When I stayed home and relaxed for 2 weeks I did notice the EV distance go up finally! (Not by much however) so you all in the 12's to 14's must have the ideal conditions and route with no jerks that drive behind you trying to pressure you to go faster.
I'm happy to report depending on speed, traffic that even with my new 18x8s with 215/40R18 Continental Extreme DWS I'm still get 65 to 83 MPG each trip.

^ Miss my DWS i had on my GTI..they are the smoothest riding tires ive ever owned....I would love them on my PiP as these stockers are hard, and you feel everything, far from smooth.

    your car looks awesome!

It starts sometime after it turns to the bars as you can still have a little bit of EV miles left when it switches to bars.

Thanks Dan! I'm happy with my tire choice! Yeah they are smooth and quiet. In EV people jogging turn their heads after they hear the spaceship coming. hee hee hee. I'll post more pics after my Tein coilovers are installed. :)

Id love to go with some 17s and better rubber....but with this car I really want the best MPG....How much of a hit did you take with DWS? I know they are a soft tire and grip well....

I got some spacers im going to install to at least make the stock wheels look alittle better, I hate how much the rears are set in.

    MPG
I'm not noticing too much of a hit - as people before me have said - 2 to 6 mpg. But as far as the screen shows when you shut down the "Power" (shows your current trip) the mpg from my work commute shows an avg of 62 to 65 MPG and I was getting that before with stocks, although occasionally I would get 68-72 (depending on how traffic went as it's always different). I do notice [as expected] with more grip and weight it doesn't coast as long as it did with the stocks - so it's probably effecting EV range also. But I'd rather sacrifice a little mpg and step out of the car and look at a nice set of wheels with a perfect offset. I'm not even lowered yet and I've gotten lots of compliments. Yeah 17's will be better for MPG although mine are light weight wheels so perhaps it's like a midrange 17 weight. If If I totally didn't care about MPG at all, I would have put 19's or 20's. :)
My offset is 45 and it will tuck perfectly once coilovers are in.

looks like the highest EV range I can achieve is 15,4 miles. not bad tho.

my ev range 'meter' has dropped from about 16.5 to 14.7. the only thing that has changed is that i have to turn my headlites on, on my way home from work. and i suppose temp is lower, 61 tonite. my actual range has dropped similarly, i used to make it home with 2-3 miles of range left. now, i barely sneak home with .1 left.

From what I understand rolling resistance when roads/tires are colder can definitely make a difference.

right. i wonder if it would be possible to find info on some kind of % increase in friction by degree drop. if i'm losing 10% from 70 to 60 degrees, what's going to happen as winter comes on?
