There are two exposed bolts near the white plastic bracket, as well as the one bolt being used to hold up the zip tie.

I think I can use something like this to secure the cable to the 3 bolts, after I smooth the edges.

There are two short bolts sticking out circled in red. (One you cannot see from this picture but it is there). I would also want to put something protective on the blue circle since there seems to be some plastic missing there.

Thankfully, none of the wires are nicked and the orange wire coating is not even scratched.

Great stuff! I repaired a microwave with a fancy broken door latch with it, otherwise it would have been toast.

I intended to use the grey plastic type, but the packaging says "not for extreme cold temperatures." It does get below zero F (-20C) here in the winter.

I'm going to use some of this to reinforce some points.

3 years, 15k miles? Looks good to go to the finish.

It probably will last, but that zip tie is really thin and it is the only thing preventing the cable from dropping down to the floor.

A few years ago I used zip ties to replace a CV boot clamp. It held for 3 years and 30k miles but then started leaking. Granted that was 6 inches from the exhaust manifold... :D

I would NOT use any metal hanging strap material on this application. You'd be better off looking at PVC strapping for low and high temperature performance.

maybe i can use this then. Polypropylene strap (gets brittle below 0F though)

or a ski strap made using polyurethane, since those do not get brittle until way far below zero.

Had some plastic "plumbers tape" lying around.

Bought one of these M6 locknuts

    image.jpeg

Enlarged some of the tiny holes in the plastic strap to 1/4" (~5mm). Then, loopped the strap around the white plastic and mounted it onto the car. Not bad!

I'll have to check it in a few weeks, months to see how it's doing. I can already see that the plastic is slightly stressed, (white at curvature) and I am not sure if this is polypropylene or something else. It might crack at the first sign of frost.

I didn't even have to raise the car, did it all lying on the side of the car.
